Mr. Merz is a senior vice president of acquisitions, dispositions and co-director of investment management for KBS. Mr. Merz serves as the market leader responsible for carrying out investment objectives throughout Texas and adjacent markets on behalf of KBS REIT, pension fund and sovereign wealth fund clients. Within these markets, Mr. Merz is responsible for execution of strategic business plans for each owned property with a focus on achieving cash flow yields, occupancy and leasing, the overall performance of the assets, as well as identifying new acquisitions and dispositions. Prior to being assigned the Texas market, Mr. Merz had similar responsibilities in other markets throughout the central region including Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Kansas City among others.
Over the course of his tenure at KBS, Mr. Merz has managed 34 assets totaling more than 12.8. million square feet of Class A office space, multifamily, industrial, and retail.
Prior to KBS, Mr. Merz worked with CBRE, The Staubach Company, and Cresa Partners. There he consulted for both local and national clients on a wide variety of strategic real estate objectives and property types, including office, logistics, and retail. Mr. Merz completed his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and finance with an emphasis in real property management and development from the University of Southern California.
