NEWPORT BEACH, California (September 15, 2025) – KBS, one of the largest owners and operators of premier commercial real estate assets in the nation, announces the expansion of its capital-raising team with the addition of 20-year real estate investment industry veteran Sondra Wenger as Head of the Institutional Capital Markets Team. The hire marks a significant expansion of KBS’ institutional capital markets team and highlights the firm’s commitment to broadening investor relationships and delivering customized, institutional-grade capital solutions. As a member of the senior executive leadership team and Investment Committee, Sondra will work closely with the acquisitions and asset management teams to drive strategic portfolio growth.
In her new role, Wenger will lead KBS’ institutional capital-raising strategy across separate accounts, co-investments, and funds, with a focus on designing tailored structures that meet investor demand for flexibility and speed.
“Bringing Sondra on board to lead our Institutional Capital Markets Team reinforces our commitment to building deep, strategic capital relationships,” says Marc DeLuca, CEO and regional president, Eastern U.S., for KBS. “With over two decades of experience and leading investment teams, Sondra brings unmatched expertise in both debt and equity. Her leadership enhances our ability to deliver differentiated deal flow, customized capital solutions, and the scalable infrastructure today’s investors are looking for – positioning us to capture new opportunities that others simply can’t.”
Over the course of her career, Wenger has led investment teams responsible for more than $17 billion in closed real estate transactions in 50-plus U.S. markets. She has helped raise $2.8 billion in committed capital, led over $9 billion in joint ventures, and participated in six fund formations. Before joining KBS, she held senior roles at CBRE Investment Management, CIM Group, General Electric, Equity Office Properties Trust, in addition to working at AMB (now Prologis). Beyond her professional accomplishments, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with honors from the University of California, Riverside, is a former CPA, and actively serves on several boards and industry councils, including the Urban Land Institute.
The current dislocation in real estate capital markets has created an exceptional opportunity for investors, according to Wenger. Institutional investors are seeking experienced partners like KBS who can grow with them; Her expertise will add to the company’s 30-year history in office, multifamily, retail, industrial, alternative assets and ground-up development, further building the infrastructure needed to manage and scale multiple separate accounts simultaneously while making relationships a priority.
“With investors increasingly seeking flexibility through preferred equity, recapitalizations, and joint-venture structures, real estate owners and operators require expertise in designing bespoke solutions across core, core-plus, value-add, and opportunistic strategies in both debt and equity opportunities,” says Wenger. “Institutional investors want proven partners who can grow with them. My role at KBS is about building the infrastructure to scale current and new separate accounts and funds simultaneously while always keeping relationships at the center of our approach.”
