Mr. Helgeson is a senior vice president of acquisitions and investment management for KBS. Mr. Helgeson serves as the market leader for California, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado regions, directing all acquisition, asset management, disposition, and JV partnership activities on behalf of KBS-managed funds.
Key responsibilities include sourcing investment-grade acquisitions aligned with fund strategies, overseeing operational excellence with best-in-class service providers, optimizing portfolio asset performance, and executing strategic disposition initiatives.
Since joining KBS in 2013, Mr. Helgeson has led the acquisition and disposition process on more than 6,000,000 SF of assets with a combined transaction value of over $2.06 billion. Mr. Helgeson currently oversees a portfolio of 10 class A properties totaling more than 3.6 million square feet. KBS engages “best of class” real estate service providers in each market for leasing, property management, acquisition and disposition services and places the highest value on these partnerships throughout all market cycles. Mr. Helgeson started his career in brokerage with Cushman Realty Corporation (acquired by Cushman & Wakefield in 2001) based in Southern California and then with Newmark prior to joining KBS. Mr. Helgeson was ranked among Orange County’s Top Brokers by the Costar Group and has been recognized multiple times for completing innovative transactions on behalf of his clients.
Mr. Helgeson earned a degree in finance and real estate from California State University at Long Beach and is an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation. Outside of the office, Mr. Helgeson enjoys international travel with his family (19 countries so far!), as well as the many outdoor activities offered in Southern California. In addition to previously serving as a Board Member for Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center and MemorialCare, Mr. Helgeson has served his community as a Reserve Deputy of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
