The Meier & Frank Building is a 16-story, glazed terra cotta, historic structure originally headquarters of the Meier & Frank department store chain.
KBS redeveloped the former Macy’s Department Store (floors 1-5) into a best-in-class, mixed-use asset that has street-level retail and creative office space. Floors 6-16 of the property are home to the Nines Hotel, downtown Portland’s most luxurious hotel. The property encompasses an entire city block across from the vibrant Pioneer Square and the highly successful Pioneer Place Mall. Additionally, The Meier & Frank Building has won several local and state architectural awards. In 2019 the building won the Corporate Best in Category, Design Excellence Award and Jurors Choice, Design Excellent Award from IIDA Oregon, the Top Projects Award Honorable Mention from the Daily Journal Commerce, Oregon and the Transformer Award from the Portland Business Journal. In 2020, The Meier & Frank Building also received the Citation Award from American Institute of Architects, Oregon.
