Mr. Helgeson is a senior vice president of acquisitions and asset management for KBS. Mr. Helgeson serves as the market leader responsible for carrying out investment objectives in the Southern California, Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Denver markets on behalf of KBS.
Key responsibilities include overseeing the acquisition, JV partnerships, asset management and disposition of investment grade properties that align with the strategic business plans of KBS managed funds. Mr. Helgeson works closely with his KBS colleagues and property teams to optimize asset performance, enhance investment yields, and to establish strategic portfolio objectives.
Since joining KBS in 2013, Mr. Helgeson has led the acquisition and disposition process on more than 5,800,000 SF of assets with a combined transaction value of over $2.01 billion. Mr. Helgeson currently oversees a portfolio of 8 class A properties totaling more than 2.9 million square feet. KBS engages “best of class” real estate service providers in each market for leasing, property management, acquisition and disposition services and places the highest value on these partnerships throughout all market cycles. Mr. Helgeson started his career with Cushman Realty Corporation (acquired by Cushman & Wakefield in 2001) based in Southern California where he worked on both local and national accounts. After 15 years with Cushman & Wakefield, and just prior to joining KBS, Mr. Helgeson worked with Newmark Knight Frank where he was a senior managing director. Mr. Helgeson has been ranked among Orange County’s Top Brokers by the Costar Group and has been recognized multiple times for completing innovative transactions on behalf of his clients.
Mr. Helgeson earned a degree in finance and real estate from California State University at Long Beach. Outside of the office, Mr. Helgeson enjoys international travel with his family (17 countries so far!), as well as the many outdoor activities offered by Southern California lifestyle. In addition to previously serving as a Board Member for Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center and MemorialCare, Mr. Helgeson serves his community as a Reserve Deputy of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
