KBS & Transwestern Partner for Sixth Year to Support Wreaths Across America

Companies Honor Fallen Soldiers with Wreath-Laying Fundraising Campaign

KBS and Transwestern Real Estate Services (TRS) announce the companies are partnering for the sixth consecutive year to support Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit that honors fallen U.S. soldiers by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington Cemetery and more than 2,500 locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad. KBS and Transwestern are collecting donations for wreath sponsorships at 19 KBS properties where Transwestern provides property management services.

“Since 2016, Transwestern and KBS have helped sponsor more than 32,000 wreaths,” said Tom Lawyer, President of Transwestern Real Estate Services. “We’re proud to continue supporting Wreaths Across America’s tremendous initiative and honor our fallen soldiers and their families.”

The KBS and Transwestern fundraising campaign runs from November 1 through November 30. A $15 donation sponsors one wreath with 100% of proceeds going directly to Wreaths Across America. The companies will match contributions up to 2,000 wreaths.

“We are proud to continually support Wreaths Across America’s mission to remember and to honor the sacrifice of fallen U.S. fallen veterans and American heroes that put their lives on the line for our freedoms,” said Marc DeLuca, regional president, Eastern United States for KBS. “Special thanks to our supportive tenants that collect donations for wreath sponsorships each year.”

On National Wreaths Across America Day, Saturday, December 18, volunteers will gather in participating cemeteries to place live balsam wreaths on every veteran headstone as a demonstration of respect, gratitude, and remembrance. Those interested in volunteering can sign up on the Wreaths Across America website.

Underwriting the Perceived Instability of Short-Term Office Leases

  • February 16, 2021
The threat of shorter office lease terms has been looming over the commercial real estate industry for several years. Companies first braced for the potential impact of new standards from the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) recognizing all leases on the balance sheet, which took effect in January 2019. Then, the office leasing world was hit with additional challenges from COVID-19 as many companies opted to work from home and re-evaluated the role of their physical office space.
